Praise for the book:
“Systemic family therapy owes a debt of gratitude to Rudi Dallos and Ros Draper who have delivered a fifth edition of the book that has provided essential scaffolding for systemic family therapists for over two decades. This latest edition holds onto its original, clear, and coherent telling of the development of systemic family therapy. There is still a focus on skills and application of the fundamentals of practice, while giving rich new content around the contextual demands placed on families and practitioners alike by the turbulent times in which we live and work. It is a lucid, jargon free, labour of love that will justifiably exert influence for years to come.”
Rachel Watson, Institute of Family Therapy, London.
“Like a well-constructed remix Rudi Dallos and Ros Draper have provided a tour through the landscape of family therapy and systemic practice, from its historical beginnings through to the here-and-now. This amazing duo demonstrate how to remain authentic and self-reflexively write about theory and practice with clarity and purpose. They guide attachment processes towards and firmly return emotions to the therapeutic endeavour. Later they bring neuroscience into the mix showing how this can be meaningfully applied to furthering one’s understanding of human relationships. Rudi and Ros successfully incorporate various contextual influences referring to global events and phenomena and their impact on all our lives -clients, students, therapists, and supervisors. A copy of this book should be present in anyone's physical or electronic library. I recommend this book without hesitation and reservation. This remix should be “listened to” and returned to many times, as it keeps on giving.”
Ramón Karamat Ali, DPsych, Research Lead of the MSc in Systemic & Family Psychotherapy, Manchester, UK; Supervisor and Systemic Trainer at the Centre for Transcultural Training (CTTO), Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Director of Training and Development at KA Conversations Ltd.
