Exploring the Field
About the Supplementary ‘Explore’ Guides
These supplementary explore guides are designed to support further study and exploration of the field, to allow readers to learn more about the community and work of different research groups. Chapter 3 of the Critical Guide to Evidence-Informed Education introduces various research groups within what we describe as the Evidence-Informed Education field. This discussion remains largely at the level of methodology, with a focus on what each group research and how.
These documents are designed to help readers gain familiarity with the work of the research groups discussed in the book. They provide introductory information and key sources for groups such as Educational Effectiveness and Improvement research, ‘What Works’ research and ‘Evidence-Informed Practice’, as well as more general information about the wider research field.
The documnents include references to journal articles, textbooks and journals, as well as information about research organisations and conferences associated with each group. These introductory guides provide an overview and give a ‘flavour’ of the research in each area.
