Analytics
Reports in Connect provide customisable analytics on student progress, learning outcomes, at-risk learners and more, easily integrating with LMS gradebooks.
Assignment reports give you granular information about your students' interaction with assignments set through Connect, including how much time students have spent engaging and which concepts your class may be struggling with. All of this data is available at an aggregated or individual level so you can gain deeper insight into students who seem to be struggling and take remedial action. Crucially students also have access to their own data to help them manage their own learning and create informed study plans.
Our Connect reports help you save time and gain better student insights.
Application Based Activities
Underpinning theory with practice is key to helping students prepare for a competitive workplace.
ABAs are designed to move students from simple memorization to concept application, developing higher order thinking skills aligned to Bloom's taxonomy.
These highly interactive, automatically graded exercises provide students a safe space to practice using problem-solving skills to apply their knowledge to realistic scenarios. Each scenario addresses key concepts and skills that students must use to work through and solve course specific problems, resulting in improved critical thinking and relevant workplace skills.
Prep Courses in Connect cover the basic concepts in Math, Statistics, Accounting, Excel, and Economics and are comprised of animated tutorial modules with quiz questions. Instructors can assign as homework or include for optional practice.
With new cohorts coming into Higher Education following two full years of disruption to their education, Prep Courses can provide a level playing field, give instructors more time in class to cover personal finance topics, and ensure that students are not left behind.
Excel and Tableau
Excel problems are available to assign as part of the Question Bank in Connect to allow students to practice their Excel skills within the context of Corporate Finance or Investments. Students work on them within the Connect environment without needing to have their own Excel licence and avoiding version errors.
Questions feature animated, narrated Help and Show Me tutorials for students, as well as automatic feedback and grading for both students and professors.
Connect also houses a range of Tableau Dashboard Activities to introduce students to Tableau. Students learn to gather the information they need from a live embedded Tableau dashboard - no prior knowledge of Tableau is needed.
Practice and Assessment
The huge bank of exercises and quizzes in Connect enables students to consolidate their learning through practice and assess the depth and breadth of their understanding of course objectives. With instant feedback and help features, students are then able to target revision at specific concepts helping them learn smarter and stay on track.
For Finance this could include:
Algorithmic and static exercises – assignable, gradable end-of-chapter content helps students learn to solve problems and apply the concepts in business analytics. Algorithmic versions allow students to practice problems as many times as they need to ensure that they fully understand each problem.
Interactive Data Problems that allow students to visualize and interact with data in different ways. Students use this tool to manipulate data and answer a variety of accompanying problems that test multiple levels of understanding.
Graphing tools – a series of basic and complex activities to develop students' graphical ability along with their calculating and plotting data skills.
Connect Kaplan CFA Questions – McGraw Hill has partnered with Kaplan Schweser to provide hundreds of additional sample CFA questions for the CFA exams.
Student Resources
As we know, not everyone learns at the same pace, or in the same way. Connect is a great place for students to go if they need more help with a topic, not only with their SmartBook but with a range of other media to help them get unstuck.
