Discover thousands of ready-made resources
to enhance students' learning, from video cases
to exercises that test their data skills
and simulations that put theory into practice

Connect offers a treasure trove of practice and revision resources to help students apply the theory they have learned and develop skills for the workplace

Students today have a world of information at their fingertips, with more ways to learn formally or informally than ever before. A proliferation of websites, forums, video content, podcasts and blogs mean we can learn more easily on the go, gain insights beyond what the written word can convey, and find a wide range of primary source material without leaving the house. But it's important that students are able to access information that they can be sure is reliable and rigorous - which is where Connect becomes a useful intermediary.

Additionally, we know that the world of work is changing, and continues to change. Technology and automation are changing the very nature of many jobs and, therefore, the skills that graduates need to succeed. Connect gives students tools and resources to practice applying the theory they learn in realistic scenarios, develop problem-solving and decision-making skills and mastery in their disciplines.

Many of these resources form part of the test bank so that you can extract data on student performance too.

Our Application Based Activities (ABAs) and Mini-Sims in Business & Economics are simulations designed to help students understand how the theory they learn applies in practice. Through engaging in real-world business scenarios that put them in the driving seat, students apply the course concepts they have learned as well as practice their problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

We have over 100 ABAs across Economics, International Business, Introduction to Business, Management and Marketing courses, alongside Student Success modules that provide extra support for students around key 21st Century skills as they navigate through university and beyond.

These highly interactive, automatically graded exercises provide students with a safe space to practice and develop the sought-after employability skills they'll need after graduation.

Connect Virtual Labs is a fully online, realistic, simulated lab experience to help your student be better prepared for real-life labs and retain more of the fundamental skills necessary for a successful laboratory experience.

They can be used as an online lab replacement, preparation, supplement or make-up lab to bridge the gap between lab and lecture.

Nearly 200 simulations across the the biological sciences and chemistry on topics from 'Applying the scientific method' to 'Urinalysis' (there's no Z) help students learn the practical and conceptual skills needed to succeed in lab environments, whilst also checking their comprehension and providing instant feedback.

Each simulation also comes with pre-lab tests to assess and reanimate foundational knowledge as well as post-lab assessments for complete insight into students' mastery of the material.

You don't need us to tell you that the world is changing, and the skills that graduates need are changing with it. Employers are increasingly looking for a mix of academic, practical and personal skills and competencies, with digital literacy coming out on top.

Digital literacy is not just about being able to use the softwares and tools that come with the job, it's also about being able to interpret data, to understand how it is useful, be able to explain to others, and to make decisions or recommendations based on it.

Discipline-specific activities and exercises in Connect are designed to help students familiarise themselves with the tools they'll use in their careers, to understand how they link to the theory they are learning, and to practice using them in a safe environment where they have freedom to fail.

In this information age, we know that students don't always go to a textbook or the relevant journals for learning. And indeed the ready accessibility of multi-media content is a great thing for different learning styles, and indeed for everyone as a means to learn in different ways that fit in with our busy lives.

Connect is full of allocatable assets that help introduce, clarify and extend a topic - supplementing lectures, giving student an opportunity to research and dig deeper, and reducing queries to instructors. And because they're in Connect and created with our authors and subject-matter experts, they're a more reliable source of information than YouTube.

The exact resources available varies from discipline to discipline. Talk to your academic consultant about the resources available for your subject.

In addition to Application Based Activities, for the Psychology discipline we have an especially wide range of video and interactive content in Connect, which we have pulled together into a Psychology Toolkit. This resource is the perfect compliment to a McGraw Hill textbook but can also be used as a standalone supplementary resource on any first year Psychology course.

  • Nearly 200 videos on topics in Biological and Cognitive Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Mental Health and Psychological Disorders, Personality, Research Methods, Social Psychology and Psychological Science.
  • Power of Process: a bank of journal articles with exercises to encourage critical thinking
  • NewsFlash articles on topic issues in Psychology with related questions
  • Quest: Journey through the Lifespan: an immersive learning game for Developmental Psychology

Instructor resources

The majority of titles in Connect come with a selection of instructor resources, saving you the time and effort of creating your own from scratch. The precise set of resources will vary from title to title; however, in most cases, you will find an instructor manual with teaching notes per chapter, along with editable PowerPoint slides per chapter for use in lectures.

Our partners tell us that one of the biggest time-savers is the assessment in Connect, which enables them to run ongoing and end-point assessments with ease - vastly reducing the administrative burden.
